The! Biggest! News! of! the! Day! - Not the CPI
Here are some of the contenders for today's biggest...news...of...the...day...
- this morning's "tame" core consumer price index (CPI) report that gave a lift to pre-open stock futures...
- better-than-expected earnings Applied Materials (AMAT) that don't seem to be helping the stock in pre-open action...
- positive comments from Abercrombie & Fitch (ANF) that has the stock poised to gap higher...
- concerns that "home prices have gone into a stall"...
- an article that suggests using grain for ethanol could leave much of the world hungry...
While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that the biggest story is that Time Warner (TWX) has fixed all of the issues that have caused its stock to stagnate so the company has opened a mining operation. Does this mean the company will be added to one of the gold indices?
