The! Biggest! News! of! the! Day! - Not the Fed

Here are some of the contenders for today's biggest...news...of...the...day...

  • Yesterday's Fed decision to keep interest rates unchanged...
  • Optimism [subscription required] on Time Warner (TWX) that suggests "steady improvement at the company's old-line businesses, ad growth at AOL, and maybe even a separate stock for cable, offer some upside for Time Warner shares..."
  • Continued concerns that problems at Amaranth may be just the tip of the hedge fund problem iceberg...
  • The buyout of biotechnology company Serono (SRA)...
  • Chatter that Yahoo (YHOO) may buy social networking site Facebook.com...
  • Some skepticism on prospects for Toyota (TM)...
  • Lastly, (and maybe leastly!), a look at retail stocks which offers some thoughts from me...

While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that the biggest story is that space shuttle has safely...this is despite losing a couple of bolts and a mysterious floating thingamajig that delayed the landing...
