The! Biggest! News! of! the! Day! - Not Google Buyout of YouTube or Alcoa
Here are some of the contenders for today's biggest...news...of...the...day...
- Word that Google (GOOG) is buying video site YouTube for $1.65 billion...
- Chatter as Alcoa (AA) kicks off the "official" start to earnings season tonight...
- Some concerns that the S&P 500 (SPX) may be overextended...
- Some optimism [subscription required] on Vodafone Group PLC (VOD) as it is said "Not only is the stock cheap by some measures, supporters say, but Vodafone also is showing some signs that it might be able to withstand the competitive pressures on call prices better than previously thought..."
- Some optimism [subscription required] on USG Corp. (USG) as it is noted that Warren Buffett's firm, Berkshire Hathaway, is buying the stock...
- A buyout offer for Cablevision Systems Corp (CVC)...
- The announcement that Medtronic (MDT) has been granted an investigational device exemption by the FDA...
While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that the biggest story of the day is this - Time capsule to be beamed from Mexican pyramid...come on people - didn't anyone learn anything from watching Star Trek: The Motion Picture...aside from those risks, it is also a concern as it is only a matter of time before Earth is blocked as an intergalactic spammer and then none of us will be able to send emails...
