The! Biggest! News! of! the! Day! - Not Durable Goods

Here are some of the contenders for today's biggest...news...of...the...day...

  • The drop in durable goods orders...
  • Continued skepticism on Dell which says that "Fidelity Investments (FMR) and Goldman Sachs (GS) are among those that have cut their Dell holdings by a third or more since Jan. 1"...(note- more on Dell can be found here...)
  • An agreement between Apple Computer (AAPL) and Creative Technology (CREAF) to end a long-standing legal dispute...
  • Hopes that a new product offering will help Research In Motion (RIMM)...
  • Rite Aid Corp's (RAD) acquisition of the Eckerd and Brooks drugstore chains...
  • Reduced earnings guidance from Williams-Sonoma (WSM)...

While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that the biggest story is this - "Farmers: Cows mooo with a twang." Of course, it is important to note that this is only a hypothesis at this point and, as the article says, "that more scientific research was needed to prove what was just an anecdotal theory at this stage"...

Are they serious? Is someone actually going to "study" this? If so, how do I get in on this job because I think I could really do it..."yeah, yup, definitely a twang there...no, no twang here..."
