The! Biggest! News! of! the! Day! - Not General Motors Earnings or Overseas Losses

Here are some of the contenders for today's biggest...news...of...the...day...

• Earnings from General Motors (GM)...
• Weakness in overseas markets as the Nikkei 225 plunges nearly three percent...
• A look into the subprime mortgage industry's current turmoil...
• Word from H&R Block (HRB) that they would to delay filing earnings...

While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that the biggest story is this - Stop surfing, make friends, students told...according to the article "One of India's top engineering schools has restricted Internet access in its hostels, saying addiction to surfing, gaming and blogging was affecting students' performance, making them reclusive and even suicidal"...there are also concerns "students had stopped socializing and many were late for morning classes or slept through them"...

I have an easy fix - give them all a copy of Animal House and tell them that is how college is supposed to be...then they can learn to "socialize" properly and be late for morning classes for more acceptable reasons - like being hungover...

And as far as the notion that blogging is "addictive" I just want to say I can stop anytime I want...I just chose to keep doing it...this is only my 10,829 post...it is not a problem until you hit 50,000...
