The! Biggest! News! of! the! Day! - Not Chrysler Sale or Microsoft's Push to End Free Software

Here are some of the contenders for today's biggest...news...of...the...day...

  • Word that Cerberus Capital Management will buy 80 percent of DaimlerChrysler's (DCX) Chrysler unit...
  • A push by Microsoft (MSFT) to "take on" free software like Linux...MSFT says "one reason free software is of such high quality is that it violates more than 200 of Microsoft's patents"...
  • A look into ways to "easily" short the market...the article highlights inflation as a concerns and notes that a "growing number of mutual funds and exchange-traded funds are designed to short the broad market or narrow slices of it"...
  • Concerns about a correction from fund managers...
  • The purchase of the generic-drug operations of Merck KGaA by Mylan Laboratories (MYL)...
  • A fake "diary" from someone pretending to be Steve Jobs that talks about Apple (AAPL)...
  • The changes being forced on broadcast television advertising in response to digital video recorders and video on the internet...

While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that the biggest story is this - Nudists try to attract younger following...it would seem that "nude recreation groups" are having trouble attracting the younger generation and "are trying everything from deep discounts on membership fees to a young ambassador program that encourages college and graduate students to talk to their peers about having fun in the buff"...as the membership director of one group said "We don't want the place to turn into a gated assisted living facility"...

Perhaps the most unusual line of the article is - "Unlike any other place in life, people actually look at you when they talk to you"...just ponder that for a minute...
