The! Biggest! News! of! the! Day! - Not Hewlett-Packard's Earnings or Amazon's DRM Revolt

Here are some of the contenders for today's biggest...news...of...the...day...

  • Earnings from Hewlett-Packard (HPQ)..."the company boosted sales by 13% and raised its full-year forecast"...
  • A move by Amazon.com (AMZN) to sell digital music without copy protection...Amazon "will sell songs and albums in the MP3 format without the layer of software for digital rights management , or D.R.M" ...
  • An argument from Pimco's Bill Gross to buy bonds because they provide "provide peace of mind"...
  • Data from the weekly jobless claims report...
  • Word that a British advertising firm will buy 24/7 Real Media "beating Microsoft (MSFT) to acquiring the Internet advertising firm"...
  • Concerns that rising gas prices could hurt consumer spending...
  • A look into the "mysteries of short sellers" as BusinessWeek reports "that federal prosecutors in Brooklyn, N.Y., may be close to charging a number of current and former employees of several Wall Street firms with taking part in a complex kickback scheme"...

While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that the biggest story is this - Spring thaw brings out Brattleboro raw...according to the article, this town in Vermont "has no ordinance, and Vermont no law, against public nudity" and now people are "appearing downtown as nature made them"...reactions include "Nudists could pop up anywhere" and "I am concerned we don't know where they are going to strike"...

Now, I fully admit that I don't "get" the desire to walk around nude in public. The argument that it is "natural" seems somewhat thin. Not brushing your teeth would technically be "natural" too but I don't see people arguing for that. But I digress...
