The! Biggest! News! of! the! Day! - Not Upbeat Lehman Earnings or Texas Instruments' Warning
Here are some of the contenders for today's biggest...news...of...the...day...
- Disappointing comments from Texas Instruments (TXN) as "the chipmaker cut the top end of its second-quarter earnings forecast"...
- Better-than-expected earnings from Lehman Brothers Holdings (LEH)...the investment bank posted earnings of 2.21 a share, compared to Reuters Estimates of 1.87 a share...
- A report that offers three "safe" stocks - MDC Holdings (MDC), Helmerich & Payne (HP), and Wells Fargo (WFC)...
- A virtual call for the end of the world as we know it as dire warnings of bubbles are shrieked...the article's description reads - "There's no shortage of signs pointing to an economic meltdown"...
- A push by Apple (APPL) to "reignite the browser wars" with their new version of Safari Web browser...
- Controversy for Yahoo (YHOO) as Terry Semel's pay package is questioned...
- A look into the "virtual doorman"...
While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that the biggest story is this - Elderly Pa. women pose for risque photos...according to the article, a group created a charity-driven calendar to raise money for the Monongahela Area Historical Society, "The catch? The nearly nude ladies are all in their 70s and 80s"...
To repeat what I said last month - "Uhmmm...not really sure what I can say about this (other than it might offer yet another explanation for the creepy smirk we see on "old Nick" below) so perhaps it is best to just leave as is"...
