The! Biggest! News! of! the! Day! - Not Dell

Here are some of the contenders for today's biggest...news...of...the...day...

• Dell's earnings report which raised concerns of competition from Hewlett-Packard (HPQ) and noted an SEC inquiry...
• No financial penalties for tobacco companies...
• China's interest rate bump...
• More job cuts at Ford Motor (F)...
• News of "a soft financial forecast" from Marvell Technology Group (MRVL)...(Note - Marvell has been struggling since breaking this support)...

While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that there are a couple bigger stories to be aware of. The first is the shocking news that Dish Network may have to shut off its DVRs...why is this big news? Because I have one of these and I am not sure I can function without it! Seriously, watching "regular" TV after living with a DVR is just plain annoying. If this happens, I am worried that others will feel the same and the ensuing mass annoyance could have ripple effects through the economy.

The other disturbing piece comes from this article - "Can 'Snakes on a Plane' live up to the hype?". It is disturbing because there are way too many people excited about this...
