The! Biggest! News! of! the! Day! - Star Trek?
Here are some of the contenders for today's biggest...news...of...the...day...
- Crude is lower on news of a truce between Israel and Hezbollah and word that BP would keep pumping half its Prudhoe Bay oilfield...
- Barron's looks at Whole Foods Markets (WMFI) " [subscription required] and says "buy"...
- News that Apple Computer (AAPL) received delisting notice from the Nasdaq...
- Some upbeat comments on Hewlett-Packard (HPQ) ahead of their earnings...
While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that the biggest story concerns the current state of our technological prowess. Specifically, concerns that there are signs we may be losing our edge. First I read that it appears interest in "Star Trek" is waning and then I saw an article that says the Segway is mocked as being "geeky" and that there "has not been widespread problems with Segway thefts"...think about it, waning interest in "Star Trek" and a lack of "geeky scooter" thefts could mean we...dare I say it...are losing our budding Bill Gates of the future...if so, where is the next Microsoft or Apple going to come from?
