The! Biggest! News! of! the! Day! - Not Oil Below 60 or Patricia Dunn

Here are some of the contenders for today's biggest...news...of...the...day...

  • Rejoicing that oil has slid back below $60 a barrel...
  • The continuing spying saga at Hewlett-Packard (HPQ) as Mark Hurd takes over after Chairwoman Patricia Dunn resigned...
  • Some mild skepticism on stocks as it is said the "market is probably due for some more declines in the short term..."
  • Expecations that "stocks will remain on shaky ground" this week as concerns about slowing growth and earnings warning season move into the spotlight...
  • Skepticism [subscription required] on IntercontinentalExchange (ICE) as it is said that "if the commodities downturn and Amaranth's troubles prompt investors to reconsider pouring money into this sector, ICE could have a problem..."
  • An argument that "equity jitters will continue for at least the first part of the fall..."

While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that the biggest story is Six Flags Great America's "gratuitously cruel" treatment of cockroaches...PETA is right - it is cruel to let people eat the cockroaches...they should just step on them and poison them, like the rest of the world...
