The! Biggest! News! of! the! Day! - Not OPEC or Same-Store-Saltes

Here are some of the contenders for today's biggest...news...of...the...day...

  • Retail sales numbers that showed "Kohl's, Nordstrom and American Eagle Outfitters were a few of the merchants that trotted out stellar September results..."
  • More details on various retail sales reports...
  • Chatter about the OPEC production cut which has oil trading up two percent...
  • Details on Apple Computer's (AAPL) options irregularities...
  • Word that Standard & Poor's boosted lift their yearend target for the S&P 500...
  • Optimism [subscription required] on Carnival (CCL) as it is said "Anyone with a 12-to-24-month horizon can make money..."
  • A report that "Returns for many hedge funds, which are supposed to be the market beaters, have paled in comparison with stocks..."

While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that the biggest story is that "physicists in Denmark have teleported information from light to matter bringing quantum communication and computing closer to reality"...the article says we still are not to the point of Star Trek's "beam me up", but I am still a little freaked out...didn't anyone see the movie The Fly - this is how it starts...first they are "beaming" light and atoms and the next thing you know we are all running from some sort of unnatural creature...
