The! Biggest! News! of! the! Day! - Not the Election or the Election or the Election

Here are some of the contenders for today's biggest...news...of...the...day...

  • The election and what it means to the market...(according to CNNMoney)
  • The election and what it means to the market...(according to BusinessWeek)
  • The election and what it means to the market...(according to MarketWatch)
  • The election and what it means to the market...(according to New York Times)
  • More bad news from the housing sector as Hovnanian Enterprises (HOV) warns...
  • Word that Google (GOOG) is looking to "expand its position in the $20 billion radio industry"...
  • Tax disputes for Merck (MRK)...
  • The announcement that FedEx (FDX) cancelled an order from Airbus and instead turned to Boeing (BA)...
  • Some optimism [subscription required] on USG Corp. (USG) and Owens Corning (OC) as the stocks are said to be cheap...
  • Better-than-expected earnings from Sirius Satellite Radio (SIRI)...

While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that the biggest story is this - Could it be magic? NZealand mulls Manilow music to clear rowdy youth...it seems that authorities in the New Zealand are willing to cross the line of what is decent and humane with the audio equivalent of a dirty bomb and play Barry Manilow "in prime downtown spots to discourage young people from loitering"...oh the humanity...
