The! Biggest! News! of! the! Day! - Not Earnings from Time Warner or Concerns about Google

Here are some of the contenders for today's biggest...news...of...the...day...

  • Earnings from Time Warner (TWX)...the media company posted in-line results and the shares seem to be indicating a slight bias to the downside...
  • Some concerns that expectations for Google's (GOOG) earnings release are too high...
  • Optimism about this year's prospects as the "January Barometer" suggests the market is poised for gains this year...
  • Upbeat comments about the tobacco sector as it is said "For all the industry's apparent troubles, however, the future of cigarettes appears to be brighter than ever"...
  • The GDP report that showed "economy shook off a summer slump and surged ahead at a faster-than-expected 3.5% annual growth rate in the fourth quarter"...

While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that the biggest story is French health minister seeks nap study...according to the article "The French already enjoy a 35-hour work week and generous vacation. Now the health minister wants to look into whether workers should be allowed to sleep on the job"...uhm...I think I will just leave this with "enough said"...
