The! Biggest! News! of! the! Day! - Not Lennar Warning or Home Depot Resignation
Here are some of the contenders for today's biggest news of the day...
- A warning from Lennar (LEN) as the company says they will miss their earnings forecast and offers downbeat comments about a market recovery...
- A resignation by Home Depot's (HD) Chairman and CEO Robert Nardelli...
- A trans fat free Starbucks (SBUX)...
- Concerns about how the slowing housing market will impact the economy...
- An update by Sirius Satellite Radio (SIRI) that has the stock showing a five percent gain in pre-open activity...
While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that the biggest story is this - Straw goat survives Christmas unharmed...as first discussed a month ago, officials in Sweden have been locked in a 40-year struggle to protect a "giant straw Christmas goat"...the goat endured an attack but survived intact...as the article notes:
- "It is only the 12th time in its 40-year history that the goat survived unscathed. Since it was first erected on Dec. 3 1966, it has been burned down 22 times, smashed several times, run over by a car and had its legs cut off before Christmas. Last year's goat was burned down by vandals dressed as Santa Claus and the Gingerbread Man."
