The! Biggest! News! of! the! Day! - Not iPhone, Google's Office-like Product or Wild Oats Buyout

Here are some of the contenders for today's biggest...news...of...the...day...

  • A brewing battle between Google (GOOG) and Microsoft (MSFT) as it is said that "Google will launch a paid version of its documents, spreadsheets, calendar and email programs - a package that has all the elements of Microsoft Office for a fraction of the price"...
  • Earnings from Toll Brothers (TOL)...the luxury-home builder posted better-than-expected earnings but offered some cautious comments as the CEO said "said it's too early in the spring selling season to pronounce a broad recovery in the housing market"...
  • A settlement in the iPhone trademark dispute as Cisco Systems Inc. (CSCO) and Apple (AAPL) agree to share the custody of the name...(no word on where iPhone will spend the holidays)...
  • The buyout of Wild Oats Markets (OATS) by Whole Foods Markets (WFMI)...
  • A look into mortgage company stocks after NovaStar Financial (NFI) "staggered analysts with the breadth of its bad news" yesterday...

While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that the biggest story is this - Kazakh envoy in U.S. seeks to dispel "Borat" image...Kazakhstan's envoy to the US is trying to dispel the "misconceptions provided in the movie by Sacha Baron Cohen"....hold on a minute - you mean to tell me that something in a movie wasn't real???...I don't believe it...next somebody will try to tell me that Pirates of the Caribbean isn't an accurate portrayal of pirate life!!!
