The! Biggest! News! of! the! Day! - Not Wal-Mart Video Downloading or Insider Trading

Here are some of the contenders for today's biggest...news...of...the...day...

  • A push by Wal-Mart Stores (WMT) to move into movie downloading...the retail behemoth will begin testing a video-download service that offer access to 3,000 movie and TV titles...
  • An investigation "into whether Wall Street bank employees are leaking information about big trades to favored clients, like hedge funds"...
  • Upbeat comments about banks, drug stocks, and oil stocks as it is said these "stock groups look underpriced on a statistical basis"...Burlington Northern (BNI), Caterpillar (CAT), Home Depot (HD), and Illinois Tool Works (ITW) are also singled out as "stocks that are cheap for their own unique reasons"...
  • A merger between MGIC Investment (MTG) and Radian Group (RDN)...
  • Some skepticism on the market as it is said that slower earnings growth combined with a slower growing economy "means it could get tougher to profit in the stock market in the quarters ahead"...

While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that the biggest story is the combination of these two headlines:

Ewwwwww...
