The! Biggest! News! of! the! Day! - Not Buyouts, Spin-Offs or Halliburton's Move

Here are some of the contenders for today's biggest...news...of...the...day...

  • A buyout of Dollar General (DG) by Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co...DG shareholders will receive $22 per share of common stock...
  • Continued troubles for New Century Financial (NEW) as the company gets word that "certain New Century subsidiaries had failed to satisfy margin calls, among other issues"...
  • Schering-Plough's (SGP) purchase of Organon BioSciences...
  • Expectations that Ford Motor (F) will announce it is selling its Aston Martin unit...
  • Word that Halliburton (HAL) "would open a corporate headquarters in the United Arab Emirates city of Dubai and move its chairman and chief executive, David J. Lesar, there"...
  • Chatter that Google (GOOG) may be developing a mobile device...

While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that the biggest story is this - Politician seeks votes in Klingon...according to the article, "A Finnish member of parliament is aiming for re-election by campaigning with a translation of his Web site into Klingon, used in the TV series 'Star Trek.'"...

On Friday I noted some concerns from Brent and Mike who were worried about the animal uprising and I can say is this - the animals are going to run rampant over us when we try to defend ourselves with shields and phasers...
