The! Biggest! News! of! the! Day! - Not Housing Starts , Accredited Home Lenders, or Palm

Here are some of the contenders for today's biggest...news...of...the...day...

  • Housing starts data...the Commerce Department reported that "Groundbreaking on new homes rebounded by 9% in February after a 14% decline in January, but less volatile building permits declined by 2.5%"...
  • A boost for Accredited Home Lenders Holding (LEND) as the company takes another step in "its struggle to remain liquid"...the stock is indicated up 31 percent in pre-open action...
  • A possible end to the long-awaited buyout of Palm (PALM)...
  • A look into the recent volatility and an argument to buy blue chips...
  • Renewed chatter that Time Warner (TWX) may spin off its AOL unit...

While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that the biggest story is this - Win a date with Alan Greenspan...yes, you read that correctly...Sir Alan is auctioning off a "lunch" with the proceeds going to charity...

Ewwww...sorry...seeing the words "date" and "Greenspan" in the same sentence has a caused a mental lock-up...
