The! Biggest! News! of! the! Day! - Not Banking Mergers or Turning Your Smartphone Into a BlackBerry

Here are some of the contenders for today's biggest...news...of...the...day...

  • The largest banking takeover ever as Barclays goes after ABN Amro...
  • The official announcement that AstraZeneca (AZN) is bidding on MedImmune (MEDI)...
  • A plan by Research In Motion (RIMM) to "let users turn smartphones running on Windows Mobile platform into virtual BlackBerries"...
  • A diversification strategy by eBay (EBAY)
  • A rebound in sales of video games for PCs...
  • The debate over turning coal into a liquid that burns like diesel fuel...
  • A look into the mentality behind Rex Tillerson, the CEO of Exxon (XOM)...

While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that the biggest story is this - "Ghost ship" mystery puzzles rescuers...according to the article, Australian rescuers found "a yacht found floating off the coast with its engine running, food on its table ready to eat, but no crew"...
