The! Biggest! News! of! the! Day! - Not First Data Buyout or Apple, EMI News Conference

Here are some of the contenders for today's biggest...news...of...the...day...

  • Speculation that Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Company is looking to buy First Data (FDC)...it is expected that the private equity firm will announce the $27-billion deal this morning...
  • A look into what is driving the price of oil...
  • Chatter about a joint news conference from Apple (AAPL) and EMI Group...
  • Word that Xerox (XRX) is going to acquire Global Imaging Systems (GISX)...
  • A potential bidding war for DoubleClick as it is reported that Google (GOOG) may join in...
  • The resignation of Steven Heyer, the CEO of Starwood Hotels (HOT)...

While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that a couple of stories are much bigger...first we have - NY mobsters used strip club for training: prosecutor where it is said that "Two accused members of a notorious New York crime family turned a strip club into a training ground for mobsters"...wait a minute, haven't we seen this on TV???

Meanwhile, it looks like Google (GOOG) has tried to add a bit of spice to the news with their April Fools announcement - Google fools: Web service through toilet...Google posted "a link on the company's home page to a site offering consumers free high-speed wireless Internet through their home plumbing systems"...the "release" even went as far as adding that the "Toilet Internet Service Provider" (TiSP) works with Microsoft Corp.'s new Windows Vista operating system"...
