The! Biggest! News! of! the! Day! - Not Cisco Systems (CSCO), Electronic Arts (ERTS) or Rio Tinto

Here are some of the contenders for today's biggest...news...of...the...day...

• Earnings from Cisco Systems (CSCO) that topped the official estimates but still failed to impress...
• An earnings report from Electronic Arts (ERTS) that has the stock trading lower...
• Chatter of a merger between BHP Billiton (BHP) and Rio Tinto (RTP)...
• Earnings from Walt Disney Co. (DIS) that don't seem to be inspiring the Street...
• A warning from Toll Brothers (TOL)...

While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that the biggest story, courtesy of Mark "the tackler" Fightmaster, is this - How not to bet the Kentucky Derby...according to this column, a man (who clearly didn't understand what he was doing) bet every possible trifecta combination for the Kentucky Derby...at a cost of $13,680...and won $440...

I don't know if that story is really true but it at least serves as a good reminder to always understand what you are getting yourself into with the market...

P.S. If you don't like that story, my colleague Joe "this-is-disturbing" Hargett, seemed to think this one was blog worthy. I couldn't even bring myself to post the title...
