The! Biggest! News! of! the! Day! - Not GDP Report or A.G. Edwards (AGE) Bid
Here are some of the contenders for today's biggest...news...of...the...day...
- The GDP report...data from the Commerce Department showed "The U.S. economy slowed to a crawl in the first quarter, held back by falling investments in homes, shrinking inventories and a large trade gap"...
- The acquisition of A.G. Edwards (AGE) by Wachovia (WB) to create "the nation's second largest retail brokerage"...
- Chatter about an alliance between Google (GOOG) and Apple (AAPL) as they try to integrate Apple TV and YouTube...
- A look into software maker VMware which is expected to go public this summer...
- A recap of yesterday's Fed chatter...it would seem that "uncomfortably high" is still the buzz at the FOMC...
- Expectations on what Dell will post in tonight's earnings report...
While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that the biggest story is this - Amputee uses crutch to fight off gunmen...according to the article, "An amputee who discovered a burglar inside his home was shot while fighting him off with a crutch"...the victim, Roger Baxter, survived the gun shot and recounted his tale "He kept coming toward me and he got within 5 foot of me and that's when I hauled off and hit him with one of my crutches"...
Other than what I have seen in TV, I have no idea how prison life really is but I have to hope there is: 1) some sort of special punishment for armed criminals who go after a man who just lost his leg and 2) get beat back by that person...
