The! Biggest! News! of! the! Day! - Not GDP, Novellus, Apple's iPhone, or Cornhole's Popularity

Here are some of the contenders for today's biggest...news...of...the...day...

  • The GDP report which showed the "economy grew at a slightly faster pace in the first quarter than previous estimates"...
  • An earnings warning from Novellus Systems (NVLS)...
  • Details behind Bed Bath & Beyond's (BBBY) earnings and the option activity ahead of that report...
  • A look [subscription required] into the growing popularity of cornhole...[note - this Wall Street Journal article spurred the CNBC story I mentioned earlier...
  • A look into how Apple's (AAPL) CEO Steve Jobs has been able to stir up the "media buzz" about the iPhone...
  • A complete page dedicated to all things iPhone, Apple (APPL), Steve Jobs and any story that contains the letters i, p, h, o, n, and e...in any order...[note - I may be slightly exaggerating that last point...]
  • Some upbeat comments on semiconductor stocks from Standard & Poor's...
  • A report about the potential Dow Jones (DJ) deal that says "tentative accord on the editorial independence of The Wall Street Journal would leave Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation with the sole power to hire and fire The Journal's top editors"...

While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that the biggest story is actually a double shot of news, courtesy of my colleague Mark "the tackler" Fightmaster:

I guess with Canada worried that Bigfoot risks extinction it has become "research" to run around in the woods looking for Bigfoot?
