The! Biggest! News! of! the! Day! - Not Cheaper iPhone, or Warnings from Home Depot and Sears

Here are some of the contenders for today's biggest...news...of...the...day...

  • Speculation that Apple (AAPL) is planning a cheaper iPhone based on its iPod Nano...J.P. Morgan analyst Kevin Chang "believes the phone is likely to be controlled by a scroll wheel and might have rather limited functionality"...
  • A warning from Home Depot (HD) as the home improvement retailer "cut its 2007 profit outlook Tuesday, citing continued weakness in the home building market that will hit sales more than its earlier estimates"...
  • A warning from Sears Holdings Corp. (SHLD) as the company cautioned "sales drops at both its Kmart discount chain and Sears department store"...however, the company also says they plan a $1 billion buy back...
  • Earnings from Alcoa (AA)...
  • The continuing controversy over CNBC's stock-picking contest...
  • A potential end to the " private equity buyout boom"...
  • A push by Google (GOOG) to "further aim at one of Microsoft's core franchises" after announcing they "would acquire the e-mail security and management company Postini for $625 million in cash"...

While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that the biggest story is this - WSBTV.Com Helps Catch 'Dancing Burglar' Suspect...according to the story, "Video of a 'Dancing Burglar' on wsbtv.com helped police find their man"...investigator Darren Benedict saw the video and "recognized the truck in the video as the same truck that was involved in a chase and crash with Rockdale County deputies earlier in the week"...

This article comes courtesy of my colleague Mark "the tackler" Fightmaster as a follow-up to yesterday's man robs bank dressed as a tree...

Yeah...sometimes the news is just plain sad to read...sad in terms of humanity...
