The! Biggest! News! of! the! Day! - Not Employment Report, Greenspan's Crash Chatter, or Harley-Davidson

Here are some of the contenders for today's biggest...news...of...the...day...

  • An unexpected drop in nonfarm payrolls that appears to be spooking the market...
  • Chatter from Alan Greenspan about the similarities between the current market to the crash of 1987 and the Long-Term Capital Management debacle in 1998...
  • The apology, and $100 store credit, from Steve Jobs as Apple (APPL) tries to recover from the iPhone price cut fiasco...
  • A push by BP to make ethanol from "an inedible plant called jatropha"...
  • Disappointing comments from Harley-Davidson (HOG)...

While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that the biggest story is this - Postman who held back mail faces dismissal...according to the article, "A Belgian postman who lightened his mailbag by holding back thousands of letters and packages at home for up to five years now faces dismissal"...

If this story sounds a bit familiar it might be because it was a plot line from Seinfeld!!!

I also thought it was interesting that this case was singled out by a spokesman because the mailman actually kept the mail...it was said "postal workers occasionally failed in their duties, but typically threw away mail"...Is the spokesman hinting it is better to get rid of the evidence?
