The! Biggest! News! of! the! Day! - Not iPhone Price Cut, Wi-Fi iPod, Retail Sales, or Dreamliner Delay
Here are some of the contenders for today's biggest...news...of...the...day...
- Better-than-expected same-store sales from Wal-Mart Stores (WMT) that has the stock showing a small bounce from yesterday's new annual low...
- An overall look at August same-store sales...
- A delay for Boeing's (BA) 787 Dreamliner...
- A recap of yesterday's action where it is said "The sell-off briefly intensified as the release of the Fed's beige book...led some investors to conclude that Fed policy makers would be less inclined to cut interest rates after their meeting on Sept. 18"...[note - you can see yesterday's intraday graph here to form your own opinion about how much impact the beige book had...]
- The unexpected move by Apple (AAPL) cut the price of its iPhone ahead of the Christmas shopping season...
- More reaction to the iPhone price cut...
- A look into the new Wi-Fi iPod that was announced yesterday...but was seemingly overshadowed by the iPhone price cut...
- A look into Google (GOOG) and the chatter surrounding its " gPhone"...
- Moves by Amazon.com (AMZN) and Google (GOOG) to test electronic books...
While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that the biggest story is this - Leech invasion makes Japan residents see red...according to the article, "Japanese leeches are invading residential areas, causing swelling, itching and general discomfort with their blood-thirsty ways"...it is noted that these "land leeches" differ from water leeches in that "people don't immediately realise they've been bitten. Only later when they see their blood-soaked feet, do they realise what has happened"...
As I said a few weeks ago in regard to bot fly larvae living beneath the skin - Are you freaking kidding me? First bot flies and now a "leech invasion"?!?!?
I used to consider myself a friend of nature but that opinion was formed before bot flies and leeches were really on my radar...
