The! Biggest! News! of! the! Day! - Not Mattel Recall, Employment Report, or Yahoo Purchase

Here are some of the contenders for today's biggest...news...of...the...day...

  • Yet another recall by Mattel (MAT) for toys made in China. As noted below, this recall for lead paint in Barbie toys marks the third time Mattel has had to pull toys recently and follows yesterday's safety probe by Consumer Product Safety Commission..
  • A report that showed "Employment in the U.S. private sector grew by 38,000 in August, the weakest in four years"...
  • A stanch warning that "the prices of stocks, bonds and real estate have a long way to fall"...
  • An upbeat assessment of the current situation as it is said that "A range of market experts believes there is reasonable cause for optimism after a summer that shook investor confidence and rattled the nerves of bankers and traders"...
  • A look into seasonal weakness in September...
  • The purchase of BlueLithium by Yahoo (YHOO)...
  • A deal between NBC and Amazon.com (AMZN) to feature shows on Amazon's Unbox download service...
  • Optimism on Genworth Financial (GNW), St. Joe (JOE), Crown Holdings (CCK), and Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) as these are billed as "bargain stocks for a turbulent market"...

While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that the biggest story is this - Airline sacrifices goats to appease sky god...according to the article, "Officials at Nepal's state-run airline have sacrificed two goats to appease Akash Bhairab, the Hindu sky god, following technical problems with one of its Boeing 757 aircraft"...

Uhmmm...yeah...uhhhh...I don't really have anything to add to that...
