The! Biggest! News! of! the! Day! - Not Garmin's Tele Atlas Bid , Google Wireless, Qualcomm, Cisco , or Lower Oil Call

Here are some of the contenders for today's biggest...news...of...the...day...

  • The article [subscription required] that says Google (GOOG) "is in advanced talks" with Verizon (VZ) and Sprint Nextel Corp. (S) about Google's wireless operating system...
  • A competing bid from Garmin (GRMN) for Tele Atlas that tops the current bid from TomTom...
  • A call by Goldman Sachs to take profits on oil as they say "we are now more cautious on the near-term upside potential for oil prices"...
  • A look into Qualcomm's (QCOM) status as a "teflon stock"...
  • The argument that "Delta [DAL] should buy Northwest [NWA]"...
  • A look at Google's (GOOG) run...
  • A look into oil shale...
  • An upbeat look at Cisco Systems (CSCO)...
  • Concerns that Fed rate cutes won't be able to "save Christmas" and holiday sales...
  • Concerns that the economy won't be able to stage an "Indiana Jones" style escape from a recession...
  • Job cuts at Alcatel-Lucent (ALU)...
  • A push [subscription required] by Google (GOOG) into social networking...

While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that the biggest story, courtesy of Mark "I-am-not-drinking-that" Fightmaster, is this - Bigfoot in Clermont County?...according to my local news, "There are more Bigfoot sightings in Ohio than any state east of the Mississippi"...

Ladies and gentlemen, I have to wonder - am I in danger? Monday's post about the juvenile Sasquatch photo was all fun and games since it was in Pennsylvania. But thoughts that this beast could be in my very back yard sends chills down my spine. If am reading the article correctly, there are three "Bigfoot organizations" in my hometown alone. That can't be good. For a number of reasons...

On a completely unrelated note, I did just happen across this article from Kent State University that says "So, what are we drinking the most of in Ohio?...Cheap vodka!"...just a fun factoid I thought I would share...

Also, I have an email about yesterday's post...Derek says - "Nick as 'The biggest news of' how did you miss this one - Dogs shoot man on hunting trip"...

I have no excuse other than I didn't want to give my dog any ideas?
