The! Biggest! News! of! the! Day! - Not Stan O'Neal, Gap Sweatshop, FOMC, Hulu, or Citigroup and SVI
Here are some of the contenders for today's biggest...news...of...the...day...
- A look into Merrill Lynch (MER) amid speculation that Stan O'Neal will resign...
- Expectations about what Ben Bernanke and the Fed will do with interest rates...
- The launch of Hulu, the premium content video site which is a joint venture between NBC Universal and News Corp. (NWS)...
- A sweatshop in India that has been linked to Gap Inc. (GPS)...
- A look into Citigroup (C) and structured investment vehicles (SIV)...
- Earnings from Verizon Communications (VZ)...
- A new record for oil prices...
- The decision by Oracle Corp. (ORCL) to let its bid for BEA Systems (BEAS) expire...
- Recession concerns from Caterpillar (CAT)...
- Optimism on the banking sector as it is said "Bank shares are so cheap and their dividends so high that some of the world's biggest investors now say the combination is unbeatable"...
While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that the biggest story is this - Pa. hunter's images stir Bigfoot debate...according to the article, a camera mounted to a tree snap pictures of something that is "furry and walks on all fours" which, of course must be Bigfoot...a representative with the Bigfoot Research Organization was quoted as saying "it appears to be a juvenile Sasquatch" though a spokesman for the Pennsylvania Game Commission offered the feeble rebuttal that "There is no question it is a bear with a severe case of mange"...
Obviously there is a fierce debate here but I am not sure I am willing to question the judgment of someone from the Bigfoot Research Organization. I am sure there is some intense training needed to become a member. Also, since it was walking on all fours, I think that it rules out that it was a teenager wearing a hairy gorilla mask. Hopefully this will allay the Canadian government's fears that Bigfoot risks extinction. A world without Bigfoot would be like...well...uh...well...a world without jackalopes...
