The! Biggest! News! of! the! Day! - Not Citigroup, Activision, Yahoo, Staples, Pond Scum or the Market Correction

Here are some of the contenders for today's biggest...news...of...the...day...

  • The $7.5 billion investment in Citigroup by the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority...
  • An upbeat forecast from Activision (ATVI) amid strong sales of its game Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock...
  • An outage at Yahoo's (YHOO) "hosted shopping service" that "preventing consumers from making purchases on what's reputed to be one of the busiest days of the year for Internet commerce" - Cyber Monday...
  • The official [subscription required] declaration that we are now in a correction...
  • Concerns [subscription required] about profit margins as it is said "The boom in corporate profits is over"...
  • A look into "pond scum" as the alternative energy source of the future...
  • Earnings from American Eagle Outfitters (AEO)...
  • Earnings from Staples (SPLS)...
  • Earnings from Talbots (TLB)...
  • Talk of recession as it is expected that "Winnebago Industries Inc., Thor Industries Inc. and other U.S. recreational-vehicle makers will probably say shipments fell in 2007 for the first time in six years"...

While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that the biggest story is this - The Ten Stupidest Holiday Gifts which lists "Uncle Oinker's Gummy Bacon Candy" as one of the items.

Bacon flavored candy? That is brilliant! All the flavor - none of the cholesterol!!! At least that is my guess. They don't list the nutritional facts. If does have cholesterol then I change my stance because it is now "all of the cholesterol - none of the meat" and that just seems wrong.

Those who have been following the potential animal uprising may want to check out the Screaming Slingshot Monkey as an example of what may be coming next.
