The! Biggest! News! of! the! Day! - Not Qualcomm, Nvidia, Merck, Wachovia, Clearwire, or Vonage

Here are some of the contenders for today's biggest...news...of...the...day...

  • A disappointing forecast from Qualcomm (QCOM)...
  • Better-than-expected earnings from Nvidia (NVDA)...
  • A recap of Bernanke's comments...
  • The $4.85 billion settlement by Merck (MRK) in the Vioxx suits...
  • Write downs at Wachovia (WB) "making it the latest financial institution to warn of sharp losses last month in the credit markets"...
  • A lowered economic forecast from the European Union...
  • Chatter of rate hikes in China...
  • Word that Sprint Nextel (S) and Clearwire Corp. (CLWR) have "scrapped plans to build a high-speed wireless network together "...
  • Downbeat comments on Vonage (VG)...

While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that the biggest story is this - The poop on where to hide your old pills...where is it said - "Got some leftover drugs -- the kind that someone else might want to use, such as painkillers or stimulants? Wrap them up in used kitty litter or other pet droppings, the U.S. government advises."...it is also noted that "The U.S. government declares ferret poop to be an effective weapon against drug abuse"...

In an of itself, this would of course be "biggest news" worthy...but...yes there is always a "but"...it seems the government may have to rethink that advice in light of this story that looks into "jenkem" - "a homemade drug created by allowing human urine and feces to ferment in a bottle with a balloon covering the opening."

All I can say to all this is...ewww...ewww...ewww...
