The! Biggest! News! of! the! Day! - Not Palm, Apple, Motorola, Macrovision, or Employment Report

Here are some of the contenders for today's biggest...news...of...the...day...

  • The employment report which showed that "employers in the U.S. hired more workers than forecast in November"...
  • The warning from Palm Inc. (PALM) that has its shares down 15%...
  • A cash "hoard" at Apple (APPL)...
  • A move by retailers to temper growth...
  • Reassurance from Motorola (MOT)...
  • A look into the subprime freeze plan...
  • Another look at the subprime freeze plan...
  • The acquisition of Gemstar-TV Guide (GMST) by Macrovision (MVSN)...

While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that the biggest story is this - New York store red faced over 'Hanukkah hams'...according to the article, "A posh food store in New York's Greenwich Village has found itself red faced after offering hams for sale with the slogan 'Delicious for Hanukkah'"...

Someone thought they had a flash of marketing brilliance...someone was wrong...
