The! Biggest! News! of! the! Day! - Not Durable-Goods or New Dow Highs
Here are some of the contenders for today's biggest...news...of...the...day...
- The rampant chatter about a new high for the Dow...
- The weak-than-expected durable-goods report that knocked stock futures lower...
- Disappointing earnings news from Red Hat (RHAT)...
- Optimism [subscription required] on coal stocks with Arch Coal (ACI) singled out as it is said "because coal stocks have fallen so far down the shaft, they should pick up again..."
- "The humble pig will be traded for the first time on the London Stock Exchange on Wednesday"...this is part of a new batch of Exchange Traded Commodities...
- A "war of words" between Intel (INTC) and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD)...
- More Vioxx litigation news for Merck (MRK)...
While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that the biggest story is this argument that the housing slump is boosting the market as "some stock market experts say that the money being pulled out of homes is finding its way into stocks..."...I guess we have entered a phase where there clearly are no more concerns!
