The! Biggest! News! of! the! Day! - Not Inflation or Research In Motion

Here are some of the contenders for today's biggest...news...of...the...day...

  • This morning's inflation and spending data...
  • Better-than-expected earnings from Research In Motion (RIMM) that has the stock poised to gap up 18 percent this morning...
  • This recap of what some on the Street expect for the market...
  • More battery recalls involving Dell and Toshiba...
  • Expectations [subscription required] that "some market pundits think that the economy, and stocks, could surprise on the upside..."
  • This article that says "keep in mind that throughout this nearly five-year expansion, one bet has been consistently bad: the one against American consumers..."

While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that the biggest story is this - Parasitic weed sniffs out its prey...maybe I am the victim of watching too many sci-fi movies as a kid but this combination of phrases is seriously freaky..."One of the interesting things we found was that the plants make choices...the shoot finds a victim, it begins growing in a coil around the host plant. It inserts a peg-like tendril into that plant and feeds off it"...what happens when the plant makes the choice that humans are tastier that plants?
