The! Biggest! News! of! the! Day! - Not Buyouts or Tech Spending

Here are some of the contenders for today's biggest...news...of...the...day...

  • Word that Harrah's Entertainment (HET) is in leveraged buyout talks...
  • Some mildly upbeat comments on Yahoo's (YHOO) acquisition strategy...
  • A poll that says "tech spending is likely to remain subdued over the remainder of the year because corporate managers may be concerned about weaker economic growth in 2007..."
  • A note on consumer confidence that says "the evidence is that consumer spending is likely to remain healthy despite the housing slump..."
  • The announcement that Gilead Sciences (GILD) is buying Myogen (MYOG)...
  • This article that discusses how CNBC is changing it tactics...

While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that the biggest story is that "the U.S. Congress unexpectedly passed legislation to ban online gaming"...I guess Congress has already solved all the major issues facing the country...
