The! Biggest! News! of! the! Day! - Not Earnings from Sun Microsystems, Yahoo, or Advanced Micro Devices

Here are some of the contenders for today's biggest...news...of...the...day...

  • Earnings from Sun Microsystems that were better than expected...the stock is poised to gap on the combination of that and an announcement that SUNW "received a $700 million equity investment from the private equity firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts"...
  • Earnings from Yahoo (YHOO)...as I noted earlier, the stock is poised to gap up on chatter about Project Panama, its search advertising system...
  • Disappointing earnings from Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) that have the stock poised to gap lower...
  • A change of heart on the housing sector as "Goldman Sachs upgraded its opinion on the sector, saying the odds of a turnaround are likely to increase after the 2007 selling season"...
  • A look into the healthcare comments that President Bush made in his State of the Union address...

While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that the biggest story is this - Patient fixes hospital machine in order to have surgery...while I am usually awe struck by the seeming ineptitude those featured in headlines such as "Woman takes potty break, falls in lake" and "Alleged drunk man breaks into airport", I think that Slobodan Mocevic offers inspiration.

According to the article, he "spent seven hours fixing a hospital machine in order to have his kidney stone removed"...now that is someone who gets things done...
