The! Biggest! News! of! the! Day! - Not Earnings from Microsoft or Amgen

Here are some of the contenders for today's biggest...news...of...the...day...

  • Earnings from Microsoft (MSFT)...the software firm best known for its Windows operating system and Xbox game console posted better-than-expected earnings and the stock is seeing a slight lift in early trading...
  • Earnings from Amgen (AMGN)...while this may be one of the best known biotech firms the company wasn't able to hit expectations...the stock is currently down a little more than three percent...
  • A look into the debate on whether corn should be used for food or transformed into ethanol...
  • An earnings delay from General Motors (GM)...the automaker will delay their financial report and restate prior numbers because of tax accounting issues...
  • The durable goods report which showed an increase of 3.1 percent...

While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that the biggest story is this - Scientist develops caffeinated doughnuts...yes, the title pretty much sums it up - a molecular scientist in North Carolina has "developed a way to add caffeine to baked goods, without the bitter taste of caffeine"...

Great, now I am going to be overweight and jittery...great job science...way to make my life better...
