The! Biggest! News! of! the! Day! - Not TXU Takeover or JetBlue Flights

Here are some of the contenders for today's biggest...news...of...the...day...

  • The announcement that electric utility TXU will be taken private by Kohlberg Kravis & Roberts and Texas Pacific Group...
  • Rumors that Dow Chemical (DOW) may be close to getting a takeover bid...
  • A look into the idea that "good companies" are not necessarily the "best-performing stocks"...
  • Canceled flights from JetBlue Airways (JBLU)...
  • Concerns that "Uncertainty in the bond patch can keep equity investors at bay."

While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that the biggest story is this - Rats run wild in KFC-Taco Bell in N.Y....Yum Brands (YUM) which recently fought a PR battle after an E. coli outbreak at its Taco Bells restaurants now "has been forced back into damage-control mode after television cameras caught rats scampering around a restaurant floor"...it seems that a "TV crew discovered the rat infestation and began filming through a window" catching the rats "playing with each other and sniffing for food as they dashed around tables and children's high chairs"...

Yeah, I think it going to take more than the Pope blessing KFC's new fish sandwich to fix this...(thanks to my colleague Mark Fightmaster for pointing that out to me)...
