The! Biggest! News! of! the! Day! - Not Retail Sales or Word that '2007 Is Going To Suck'

Here are some of the contenders for today's biggest...news...of...the...day...

  • Weaker-than-expected same-store sales from Wal-Mart Stores (WMT)...the retail giant posted a rise of 0.9% while "Thomson Financial, analysts were looking for same-store sales to rise 1.5%"...
  • Interesting (and unusual) comments from homebuilder D.R. Horton (DHI) as the CEO says "2007 is going to suck"...(note - no I am not making that up...)
  • An overall look at same-store sales which appear to be hurt by cold weather...(note - cold weather in February? Shocking...)
  • Turmoil at Take-Two Interactive Software (TTWO) as "A consortium of investors disclosed yesterday that it intended to oust the board and possibly the top management"...
  • Some upbeat comments on Apple (APPL) as the article looks into "Why Apple is the best retailer in America"...

While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that the biggest story is this - Meat-loving calf eats chickens...according to the article "dozens of chickens went missing from a remote West Bengal village" but the culprit wasn't neighborhood dogs but a cow..."We were shocked to see our calf eating chickens alive"...

Yeah, I am not sure I mentally prepared to deal with carnivorous cows...
