The! Biggest! News! of! the! Day! - Not Home Prices, Target , or Lennar

Here are some of the contenders for today's biggest...news...of...the...day...

  • Data on the housing market as a report shows "Home prices fall at fastest rate in 16 years"...
  • Disappointing comments from Target (TGT)...
  • An "unexpected" loss from Lennar (LEN)...
  • A look into whether the "the bull market run its course"...
  • A look into Microsoft's (MSFT) "last, best hope in search"...

While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that the biggest story is this - Robocop takes to Russian streets...according to the article, "Russia's first robot cop" is "now patrolling the streets of the Urals city of Perm"..."The machine boasts five cameras, a help button for passersby, and the ability to issue simple instructions, such as asking someone drinking alcohol on the street to take their booze indoors."...

When I first read the headline, my thoughts immediately went to the warning I keep reiterating - it is all fun and games until the robots revolt and try to take over the world. However, my fears were allayed as I read on and found out - "Rain damaged the electronics on its first day and the robot will have to wait out the long Russian winter.".

They put it on the streets but didn't make it waterproof? Is it only a matter of time before we see the follow up article "Robocop disabled by thieves carrying squirt gun"???
