The! Biggest! News! of! the! Day! - Not Amazon Earnings, Gross Comments or iPhone Activations

Here are some of the contenders for today's biggest...news...of...the...day...

  • A strong earnings report from Amazon.com (AMZN)...[note - discussion of AMZN here]...
  • More bearish rumblings from Bill Gross...
  • An upbeat earnings report from Boeing (BA)...
  • Lower-than-expected activations for Apple's (APPL) iPhone that put pressure on APPL shares though it is said that "the sell-off will be short-lived"...
  • A push by Harley-Davidson (HOG) to win over women...
  • A recap of Countrywide Financial's (CFC) woes...
  • A look into ExxonMobil's (XOM) " profit party"...

While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that the biggest story is this - California bars Adidas from selling kangaroo shoes...according to the article, "The Supreme Court of California Monday barred athletic shoe maker Adidas from selling shoes made from kangaroo leather in California" even though it is argued the sales "support Australian efforts to control kangaroos"...

I actually first caught wind of this story on CNBC as Joe Kernen was on a great rant about how California is trying to "protect" kangaroos as Australia is struggling to control their population...
