The! Biggest! News! of! the! Day! - Not Market Plunge, GDP, or Earnings from Crocs and Amgen

Here are some of the contenders for today's biggest...news...of...the...day...

  • Stronger-than-expected GDP data...
  • Stronger-than-expected earnings from Crocs (CROX) that have the stock poised to gap up more than 15 percent...
  • A mixed earnings report from Amgen (AMGN) as the company topped estimates but lowered its guidance...
  • A warning that "foreclosure rates could soar"...
  • A look into "who's responsible for the subprime mess?"...
  • Upbeat comments on Microsoft (MSFT)...
  • Earnings from Chevron Corp. (CVX)...
  • Tips on "how to survive a market crash"...
  • Details on "3 Stocks Sheltered from the Storm" - Apple (AAPL), Amazon.com (AMZN), & Baidu.com (BIDU)...

While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that the biggest story is this - Falling ice chunks hit Iowa neighborhood...according to the article, "Large chunks of ice, one of them reportedly about 50 pounds, fell from the sky in this northeast Iowa city...Authorities were unsure of the ice's origin but have theorized the chunks either fell from an airplane or naturally accumulated high in the atmosphere — both rare occurrences"...the article then goes to explain how "aircraft latrines discharge contents at altitude, resulting in chunks of descending ice" and "the phenomenon of large chunks of ice falling from a clear sky" that creates "megacryometeors"...

After reading the article I was left with the feeling that this is a just a freak random occurrence - no big deal, nothing to see here. However, just a few a month ago we discussed a number of objects falling from the sky...

Anybody know of a stock that makes hardhats?
