The! Biggest! News! of! the! Day! - Not Verizon Earnings, Monday Jitters, or Inflated Oil Comments
Here are some of the contenders for today's biggest...news...of...the...day...
- Earnings from Verizon Communications (VZ) which "matched Wall Street's expectations"...
- A discussion of "Monday jitters"...
- Comments from OPEC's Secretary-General that "oil prices are inflated by around $7 per barrel because of concerns about supply security"...
- Word that Monster Worldwide (MNST) is cutting 800 jobs...
- This article that says - "Why Bernanke Won't Save Investors"...
While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that the biggest story is this - Report claims 'heavy' alcohol use by NASA astronauts...according to the article, "Drunken NASA astronauts were allowed to fly on a Russian spacecraft and cleared to fly on the U.S. space shuttle"...
Before I cast judgment I think I need to ponder a couple of things. First are the "in-need-of-Bob-Vila" problems I noted last month. Second is what Rockhound said in the movie Armageddon - "You know we're sitting on four million pounds of fuel, one nuclear weapon and a thing that has 270,000 moving parts built by the lowest bidder. Makes you feel good, doesn't it?"...
Okay, so maybe they aren't sitting on a nuclear weapon but still, I think a couple of beers (or maybe a nice Blanton's on the rocks) might be needed to coax me into a seat?
