The! Biggest! News! of! the! Day! - Not Microsoft Ruling, Greenspan Comments, or the Fed

Here are some of the contenders for today's biggest...news...of...the...day...

  • The EU court ruling against Microsoft (MSFT)...the court "rejected the company's appeal of a landmark 2004 antitrust ruling and upheld a $613 million fine against the world's largest software maker"....
  • Comments from Alan Greenspan...
  • A look into "Bernanke's dilemma"...
  • Concerns [subscription required] that investors maybe be putting too much hope "in the Federal Reserve's ability to ride to the rescue tomorrow"...
  • A look into Garmin (GRMN) by Herb Greenberg...
  • A warning that "a recession may be on the way"...
  • Continued chatter about Northern Rock's need to tap emergency funding from the Bank of England...
  • Mortgage losses at National City (NCC)...

While those are all stories worth watching, I think it is obviously clear that the biggest story is this - Burglar says TV taught him his craft..."A man who says he learned how to rob homes by watching a TV show was sentenced to 12 years in prison for a string of burglaries in central Kentucky"...the man "learned how to break into homes by watching the Discovery Channel TV show "It Takes a Thief'"...

Why is this the biggest news of the day? Because it is a story about stealing that doesn't involve O.J. Simpson...
